Every year the North/Eastside Senior Coalition’s Latino Caregivers Group hosts two series of workshops related to taking better care of ourselves and those whom we love.
We are excited to announce that our first workshop series of 2010 will take place in April. On Wednesday, 7 April from 6:00 until 8:30 pm at the Madison Senior Center, 330 W. Mifflin Street, NESCO will host a women’s health workshop together with Planned Parenthood’s Cuidándome (Taking Care of Myself) program. Bilingual health promoters from Planned Parenthood will be sharing information about breast and reproductive health as well as sexuality with our support group members.
The workshop series will continue on Wednesday, 21 April from 6:00 until 8:30 pm at the Madison Senior Center. At this second workshop, Teresa Tellez-Girón, a bilingual social worker working with children, youth, and families, will present a workshop on family communication. Since all of the members of our Latino Caregivers Support Group are caring for loved ones- be they grandchildren, children, spouses, or friends- this workshop should be a worthwhile opportunity for participants to learn about family dynamics and respectful communication.
If you or someone you know is interested in attending these workshops or our regularly scheduled support groups for Spanish-speaking senior adults, please get in touch with Yolanda Salazar, Liz Mensing, or Rachel Nordberg at NESCO by calling (608)243-5252. We would love to have you!
